Adipex Reviews
Adipex
is the brand name of the generic drug phentermine hydrocholoride,
the research published is on phentermine.
Most of the
recently published studies of phentermine include its use in combination
with fenfluramine. One of the studies in which its effectiveness
alone was analyzed found that the drug resulted in an average weight
loss of 14 pounds after 20 weeks of treatment.
However, the
biggest concern about use of the combination product fen-phen was
the increased risk of heart-valve abnormalities.
In the May 2000
issue of Circulation, researchers reported on the results
of their extensive investigation into this problem. The researchers
stated that "findings suggest that valvular abnormalities in
patients who took fenfluramine-phentermine primarily involve those
who had taken these medications for more than 6 months and predominantly
results in mild aortic regurgitation."
This study did
not show the use of phentermine alone to be associated with this
heart condition.
