What
You Can Expect When Taking Anorex
Like many
other ECA-based products on the market, Anorex
will induce thermogenesis (raise your body's temperature) and
cause you to burn more calories. Other Anorex results include:
suppressing your appetite, preserving lean muscle mass, and increasing
your energy levels. The tyrosine in the formulation increases
these benefits by further curbing appetite and reducing fatigue
and stress levels. Cayenne also works well with the ECA stack,
elevating metabolic rate and fat oxidation. Unless you have an
iodine deficiency, the kelp will do little, if anything, to help
you lose body fat.

there are some widely documented side effects associated with
ECA-based products. For more information, click here: Anorex

What
the Individual Ingredients Do
Anorex is
an ECA stack with a few novel ingredients thrown in. The caffeine
comes from kola nut and green tea. Pharmaceutical aspirin is used
instead of its herbal relative, willow bark. The main fat-burning
agents are clearly the ephedrine and caffeine. Numerous studies
have shown that when these two nutrients are combined in the right
ratios that a synergistic effect occurs, resulting in significant
fat loss. For more information on studies conducted on Anorex
or its ingredients, see Anorex
Review.
Here is a
breakdown of the individual ingredients in Anorex and what they
do:
Anorex
Results From Ephedra
Ephedrine
is the primary fat-burning chemical in the Ephedra sinica plant,
from which it gets its name. Also known as ma huang, this plant
has a long history of usage in Asian countries for the treatment
of asthma and other bronchial conditions. A related chemical,
pseudoephedrine, is also found in the plant and is an ingredient
in many cold and flu remedies.
Ephedrine is a stimulant that works on the adrenergic receptors
of the central nervous system. It has been shown to increase the
level of dopamine, which is a precursor to both epinephrine and
norepinephrine, which are vital neurotransmitters. Dopamine is
also an important neurotransmitter around the hypothalamus, an
area of the brain that is important for body arousal. Unlike caffeine,
which exerts many of its benefits in muscle tissue, ephedrine
appears to work primarily on the central nervous system.
Ephedrine is an effective fat burner on its own, and when it is
combined with caffeine, the effects are even greater. While the
reasons for this are still not known, it is thought that caffeine
has a "permissive" action on ephedrine, lowering the
amounts needed to achieve its physiological effects. In other
words, caffeine potentiates ephedrine's effect.
Anorex
Results From Caffeine
The two caffeine
sources in Anorex are kola nut and green tea extract. Kola nut
comes from two evergreen trees (Cola acuminata and Cola nitida)
of the cocoa family that are native to tropical Africa. The original
"cola" in Coca-Cola, it has been used as a tribal medicine
for centuries. It aids digestion, combats intoxication and diminishes
feelings of hunger and fatigue. It is, of course, for its appetite-suppression
and energy-stimulation benefits that it helps as a fat burner.
The seed kernel contains caffeine as well as traces of theobromine
(another stimulant).
Green tea
contains potent antioxidant compounds called polyphenols. There
are four primary polyphenols in green tea. While all four appear
to have protective value, epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) occurs
in the greatest amounts and has the strongest benefits. EGCG is
an antioxidant that is several times more potent than vitamin
E. It also prolongs the life of norepinephrine, which triggers
thermogenesis. As a result, EGCG keeps the thermogenic process
going for a longer period of time, boosting your metabolic rate
and facilitating fat loss. The amount of green tea and epigallocatechin
gallate in Anorex is not indicated on the label.
As far as
fat burning is concerned, the primary active ingredient in kola
nut and green tea extract is caffeine. This plant chemical is
rapidly absorbed by the body and remains in circulation for more
than seven hours. Plasma concentrations reach a peak one hour
after it is consumed. It is then slowly metabolized, with a half-life
of four to six hours.
Caffeine
has been shown to dramatically increase free fatty-acid levels,
providing the body with a fuel source that it can use instead
of the glycogen stored in your liver and muscles. In fact, one
study found a 100% increase in plasma free fatty acids after the
subjects took 330 mg of caffeine.
At the same
time, caffeine has been shown to increase adrenaline levels. This
"fight-or-flight" hormone increases alertness and boosts
energy levels, helping you to go through your daily tasks with
less food intake. Most people experience a reduced appetite when
their adrenaline levels are high, usually because they are focused
on more essential tasks. With these two mechanisms, it's easy
to understand why caffeine is important for jump-starting your
weight-loss efforts.
Anorex
Results From Aspirin
While most
of the thermogenic products on the market use willow bark as the
source of salicin compounds, Anorex uses pharmaceutical-grade
aspirin. Known chemically as acetylsalicylic acid, it is the exact
chemical used in the experiments that showed a synergistic effect
with ephedrine and caffeine. Aspirin can further increase the
effects of the E/C stack by helping to raise the body's set point
for temperature regulation and keeping the body from re-regulating
itself. This boosts the basal metabolic rate and helps to burn
more body fat. There has never been a study comparing the effects
of aspirin vs. willow bark, nor has one been done to establish
the relative dosages needed. However, because it is a less concentrated
herbal extract, more willow bark is clearly needed. Compared to
other products on the market, Anorex contains a lot of aspirin.
Anorex
Results From L-tyrosine
L-tyrosine
is the amino acid tyrosine in free (unbound) form. Tyrosine is
an amino acid that plays an important role in human metabolism.
It is the precursor to stimulatory neurotransmitters such as epinephrine,
norepinephrine, dopamine and some of the thyroid hormones. All
of these neurotransmitters and hormones play important roles in
maintaining your metabolic rate. Logically, if you have a greater
supply of these precursors, you can nudge your metabolism up a
bit, helping you to shed unwanted pounds. Several studies have
also shown that tyrosine increases the benefits of caffeine/ephedrine
products, in part by curbing appetite. Tyrosine appears to reduce
stress and fatigue as well, putting you in a better state of mind
and making it easier to stick to your diet and exercise program.
The amount of L-tyrosine in Anorex is not indicated on the product
label.
Anorex
Results From Kelp
Kelp is a
fancy word for seaweed. Specifically, it refers to several types
of brown seaweeds in the Laminariales and Fucales botanical families.
Kelp is a rich source of iodine, which is an essential mineral.
Before the introduction of iodized salt, many people in the interior
of the country who rarely ate seafood had iodine deficiencies,
which produced swelling in the throat area and thyroid-related
disorders. The thyroid gland is the organ primarily responsible
for your basal metabolic rate, so a reduction in thyroid function
slows your metabolism and makes it easier to put on body fat.
Eliminating an iodine deficiency therefore speeds up your metabolic
rate and helps you to burn more fat. It is for this reason that
kelp is included in Anorex. However, iodine deficiencies are not
common in this country at the present time, and there is no evidence
that taking amounts larger than those needed to prevent a deficiency
will produce any additional effect on metabolic rate.
Anorex
Results From Cayenne
Cayenne is
a source of capsaicin, a plant chemical that helps to boost metabolic
rate. It is the main reason that peppers in the Capsicum genus
of plants are hot. Other peppers in this genus are Tabasco pepper
and various chilies. Capsaicin activates neurons and neuropeptides
in the brain that are thought to suppress appetite. It also increases
the secretions of epinephrine and boosts the release of catacholamines
from the adrenal glands, both of which help to promote thermogenesis.
This is why studies have shown that capsaicin supplementation
results in more energy expenditure and fat oxidation. The amounts
of cayenne and capsaicin in Anorex are not indicated.
While this
article sheds light on the results you can expect from the individual
ingredients in Anorex, the only true way to experience Anorex
results is to actually try the product out yourself.
