Thermogenics Plus Results
What
Results You Can Expect When Taking Thermogenics Plus Quick Start
Like many other ECA-based products on the market, Thermogenics
Plus Quick Start will induce thermogenesis (raise your body's
temperature) and cause you to burn more calories. Other Thermogenics
Plus results include: suppressing your appetite, preserving lean
muscle mass, and increasing your energy levels. Cayenne also works
well with the ECA stack, elevating metabolic rate and fat oxidation.
Ginger helps to calm your stomach. None of the other ingredients
in the formulation will produce a noticeable effect.
Be aware that there are some widely documented side effects associated
with ECA-based products. For more information, see Are
Thermogenics Safe.
What the Individual Ingredients Do
Thermogenics Plus Quick Start is an ECA stack with a few novel
ingredients thrown in. The caffeine comes from bissey nut. Pharmaceutical
aspirin is used instead of its herbal relative, willow bark. The
main fat-burning agents are clearly the ephedrine and caffeine.
Numerous studies have shown that when these two nutrients are
combined in the right ratios that a synergistic effect occurs,
resulting in significant fat loss.
Here is a breakdown of the individual ingredients in Thermogenics
Plus Quick Start and what they do:
Thermogenics
Plus Results From Ephedra
Ephedrine
is the primary fat-burning chemical in the Ephedra sinica plant,
from which it gets its name. Also known as ma huang, this plant
has a long history of usage in Asian countries for the treatment
of asthma and other bronchial conditions. A related chemical,
pseudoephedrine, is also found in the plant and is an ingredient
in many cold and flu remedies.
Ephedrine is a stimulant that works on the adrenergic receptors
of the central nervous system. It has been shown to increase the
level of dopamine, which is a precursor to both epinephrine and
norepinephrine, which are vital neurotransmitters. Dopamine is
also an important neurotransmitter around the hypothalamus, an
area of the brain that is important for body arousal. Unlike caffeine,
which exerts many of its benefits in muscle tissue, ephedrine
appears to work primarily on the central nervous system.
Ephedrine is an effective fat burner on its own, and when it is
combined with caffeine, the effects are even greater. While the
reasons for this are still not known, it is thought that caffeine
has a "permissive" action on ephedrine, lowering the
amounts needed to achieve its physiological effects. In other
words, caffeine potentiates ephedrine's effect. (For studies on
the ingredients in Thermogenics Plus, see Thermogenics
Review.)
Thermogenics
Plus Results From Caffeine
The caffeine
source in Thermogenics Plus Quick Start is bissey nut. This herb
contains high levels of xanthine compounds, such as caffeine,
as well as theobromine, the primary metabolite of caffeine. As
a result, it has the same stimulating effects on the central nervous
system that pure caffeine has. Bissey nut is traditionally used
to decrease fatigue, increase sex drive and as a diuretic.
As far as fat burning is concerned, the primary active ingredient
in bissey nut is caffeine. This plant chemical is rapidly absorbed
by the body and remains in circulation for more than seven hours.
Plasma concentrations reach a peak one hour after it is consumed.
It is then slowly metabolized, with a half-life of four to six
hours.
Caffeine has been shown to dramatically increase free fatty-acid
levels, providing the body with a fuel source that it can use
instead of the glycogen stored in your liver and muscles. In fact,
one study found a 100% increase in plasma free fatty acids after
the subjects took 330 mg of caffeine.
At the same time, caffeine has been shown to increase adrenaline
levels. This "fight-or-flight" hormone increases alertness
and boosts energy levels, helping you to go through your daily
tasks with less food intake. Most people experience a reduced
appetite when their adrenaline levels are high, usually because
they are focused on more essential tasks. With these two mechanisms,
it's easy to understand why caffeine is important for jump-starting
your weight-loss efforts.
Thermogenics
Plus Results From Aspirin
While most
of the thermogenic products on the market use willow bark as the
source of salicin compounds, Thermogenics Plus Quick Start uses
pharmaceutical-grade aspirin. Known chemically as acetylsalicylic
acid, it is the exact chemical used in the experiments that showed
a synergistic effect with ephedrine and caffeine. Aspirin can
further increase the effects of the E/C stack by helping to raise
the body's set point for temperature regulation and keeping the
body from re-regulating itself. This boosts the basal metabolic
rate and helps to burn more body fat. There has never been a study
comparing the effects of aspirin vs. willow bark, nor has one
been done to establish the relative dosages needed. However, because
it is a less concentrated herbal extract, more willow bark is
clearly needed. Compared to other products on the market, Thermogenics
Plus Quick Start contains a lot of aspirin.
Thermogenics
Plus Results From Adrenal support nutrients
There are
five herbs in this product's proprietary blend: schizonepeta,
forsythia, Siberian ginseng, cayenne and ginger root. Schizonepeta
(also known as Japanese or Chinese catnip) and forsythia (weeping
golden bell) are anti-inflammatory herbs. They are sometimes included
in herbal combinations used to treat fatigue and general weakness.
However, a review of five herbal texts and an Internet search
found no indication that these two herbs have any direct action
on the adrenal glands whatsoever.
Siberian ginseng (Eleutherococcus senticosis) has a well-deserved
reputation as an adaptogen. This means that it helps the body
to deal with stress, including the stress caused by a diet and
exercise program. Siberian ginseng has been shown to reduce the
secretion of cortisol in the adrenal glands. Cortisol is a catabolic
hormone that can eat away at muscle tissue, so it is best to keep
it under control. Siberian ginseng also promotes the health of
the adrenal gland while strengthening the immune system and helping
the body fight inflammation. The quantity of Siberian ginseng
in this formulation is not shown.
Cayenne is a source of capsaicin, a plant chemical that helps
to boost metabolic rate. It is the main reason that peppers in
the Capsicum genus of plants are hot. Other peppers in this genus
are Tabasco pepper and various chilies. Capsaicin activates neurons
and neuropeptides in the brain that are thought to suppress appetite.
It also increases the secretions of epinephrine and boosts the
release of catacholamines from the adrenal glands, both of which
help to promote thermogenesis. That is why studies have shown
that capsaicin supplementation results in more energy expenditure
and fat oxidation. While this is good news for losing weight,
it's hard to argue that increasing epinephrine and catacholamine
release from the adrenal glands helps "support" them
in any way. If anything, it would tend to overtax them. The amounts
of cayenne and capsaicin in Thermogenics Plus Quick Start are
not indicated.
Ginger (Zingiber officinale) is indigenous to tropical Asia and
is now cultivated in tropical areas throughout the world. The
rhizome, which is technically an underground stem instead of a
root, contains oleoresins that are rich in gingerols. These compounds
have a variety of sedative effects. Ginger is traditionally used
to calm the stomach and as a treatment for motion sickness. Since
some individuals experience gastrointestinal upset with caffeine
and other stimulatory chemicals, ginger should help to eliminate
this occasional side effect. While ginger calms the gastrointestinal
tract, there is no evidence that it promotes the health of the
adrenal glands. Ginger does not have any fat-burning properties,
either.
While this
article sheds light on the results you can expect from the individual
ingredients in Thermogenics Plus, the only true way to experience
Thermogenics Plus results is to actually try the product out yourself.
