Thermogenics
Plus Quick Start is promoted as a way to "jumpstart any weight
loss program." Manufactured by Silver Sage, it contains the
usual three ingredients found in most fat burners – ephedrine,
caffeine and aspirin – along with a proprietary blend of
nutrients to support the adrenal glands. The formulation also
includes several vitamins and minerals.
The primary ingredients in Thermogenics Plus Quick Start are Ephedrine,
Caffeine and Aspirin (ECA). Like other ECA-based products, Thermogenics
Plus Quick Start works by inducing thermogenesis (the production
of heat), which speeds up your metabolism and burns calories.
This product also has an appetite-suppressing effect, so you feel
less hungry and therefore eat less. (For more about how Thermogenics

The most powerful component in ECA-based supplements is ephedrine.
It's long been regarded as a fairly potent thermogenic compound,
but it was found to be even more effective when combined with
caffeine and aspirin. It's true that caffeine is also a fairly
good thermogenic compound, but it hardly measures up to ephedrine.
When caffeine and ephedrine are combined in fairly specific ratios,
the results are synergistic. In other words, the effects of each
are greater than the sum of their individual effects. The studies
that produced the most dramatic synergies used a caffeine/ephedrine
ratio of 10 to 1. When aspirin is thrown into the equation, these
results are further enhanced. This combination of nutrients produces
a synergistic fat-burning effect that is even more effective than
the once-popular diet pills Fen-Phen and Redux. (For more studies

Thermogenics Plus Quick Start has this 10 to 1 ratio of caffeine
and ephedrine. The caffeine comes from bissey nut and the ephedrine
is from ma huang extract. Thermogenics Plus Quick Start also has
324 mg of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), far more than the usual
fat-burner product.
Although for most people Thermogenics Plus Quick Start is quite
safe, if you have a history of heart or thyroid disease or drug
abuse, an enlarged prostate or high blood pressure, you should
definitely check with your doctor before you take this product.
Ingredients and Recommended Dosage
Ingredients
Each two-capsule serving of Thermogenics Plus Quick Start contains
212 mg of bissey nut extract, providing 200 mg of caffeine; 250
mg of whole ma huang extract, supplying 20 mg of ephedrine alkaloids;
324 mg of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid); and 154 mg of a proprietary
blend of adrenal support nutrients consisting of schizonepeta,
forsythia, Siberian ginseng, cayenne and ginger root. Each serving
also has 20 mg of vitamin C, 11.5 mg of pantothenic acid, 7 mg
of zinc, 84 mcg of selenium and 2.5 mg of manganese. All minerals
are amino-acid chelates.
Recommended Dosage
The manufacturer recommends taking two capsules with a full glass
of water no more than three times per day. Do not exceed 6 capsules
per day.
