Xenical
Side Affects
Xenical
has been studied in seven 1-to-2-year, multicenter, double-blind,
placebo-controlled clinical trials. These studies included more
than 4100 patients. Xenical is one of the most popular diet pills
on the market due to its effectiveness, and the way in which it
helps people lose weight. (To compare Xenical prices from top
on-line pharmacies, see Cheapest
Xenical Online.)
Xenical, like
all medications, may cause side affects. Because Xenical works
by blocking the absorption of dietary fat, the most common side
affects you are likely to experience are changes in bowel habits.
These bowel changes are a natural effect of blocking the fat from
being absorbed. They generally occur during the first weeks of
treatment; however, for some people they may continue for 6 months
or longer while on Xenical.
- Changes
in bowel habits include:
- Gas with
bowel movements.
- Oily or
fatty stool. The oil seen in a bowel movement may be clear,
orange, or brown.
- Oily spotting
between bowel movements.
- An increased
number of bowel movements.
- Urgent
need to go to the bathroom.
- Inability
to control bowel movements.
Some
people have these side effects only in the first few weeks of
use. However, others have them for as long as they use Xenical.
Most people find these side effects unacceptable if they do not
go away within a few weeks. Not being able to tolerate these side
effects is the most common reason people stop using this medication.
The side effects
increase with diets that contain more fat and decrease with lower
fat diets. People using Xenical are advised to eat foods with
no more than 30% fat. This amount of fat keeps the side effects
in at a manageable level. Xenical
also interferes with your body's absorption of some fat-soluble
vitamins. It is advisable to take a daily multivitamin supplement
that contains vitamins A, D, E, and K and beta-carotene while
taking Xenical.
